Dining, Shopping, and Entertainment
From casual spots to upscale eateries, Washington Park is ready to wine and dine you! Starting the day off at Wash Perk is always a good idea. This charming coffee shop sells high-end coffee and espresso alongside delicious baked goods. For lunch or dinner, check out Homegrown Tap & Dough. This popular spot is part of a Colorado chain that takes classic Italian food and makes it “classically Colorado.” Wood-fired pizzas, fresh pasta, and local brews make for a casual — and delicious! — meal out.
When it comes to shopping, head to the historic Gaylord Street and check out the Old South Gaylord Street Shops. This shopping “mall” offers chic boutiques, quaint cafes, fine art, and more. The mall is also a popular destination for events, like the Memorial Day Kickoff Summer Festival.
And then there’s the park itself! Washington Park is a major attraction for residents and visitors alike. “Wash Park” provides a natural respite from busy city life. There are two lakes, two formal flower gardens, tree-lined paths, and a lot of green views! Take a stroll, have a picnic or get out on the water. The Washington Park Boathouse is a beautiful structure that you can rent for weddings and other events.
Things to Do
When it comes to things to do in Washington Park, there’s never a shortage! The Annual Festivals on South Pearl Street are great ways to mark the starts and ends of the different seasons. On the second Saturdays of June and August, come out and enjoy the Summer Music Festivals series! June brings thousands of people to South Pearl Street to enjoy Brewgrass: an annual event that combines bluegrass music and craft beers. Spend the afternoon sipping and singing along!
In August, you can check out Blues and Brews as well as HarvestFest. Each brings music, food, drinks, and fun to the area. In September, embrace German culture with Oktoberfest, and then look forward to December’s Winterfest!
South Pearl also hosts a weekly farmers market from June to September. Sunday mornings become synonymous with fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal coffee, and handicrafts.
South Gaylord Street is another spot that shuts down in the name of fun! Each Memorial Day, there’s a block party that brings live music, fine art, street painting, and other family-friendly attractions to the area. It’s the perfect kick-off to summer!
